Historic Railroad District Walking Tour. Trains transformed sleepy San Luis from the middle of nowhere to the center of somewhere, a place that lured presidents, press barons, and poets. Relive the epic of the West through the men, women, buildings, and rolling stock of the Railroad District. Tour begins from SLORRM, ends at the Ramona Depot in the Dallidet Garden one mile away, and includes nineteenth- and twentieth-century railroad buildings, SP brakeman and author Jack Kerouac's rooming house, and the businesses, homes, and stories of SLO's railroad men and women. Led by local historian James Papp. Meet at the Museum entrance. About 2 hours. Included with Museum admission. Here's a video about this walk.
